The official final event of the fourth generation of the program • It can be done from Bitola too • in the form of a DEMO DAY was held in the premises of Bitola Start-up Center – under the Local Employment Partnership (LEP) Bitola, financially supported through Strengthening Social Dialogue, a project implemented by the International Labor Organization and funded by the European Union.
DEMO DAY is the crown of a two months intensive work with selected applicants and the beginning of another 10 new successful start-up stories. BAK Brewery – the first craft brewery in Bitola by the applicant Marjan Bakrevski, NOMAD creative studio – with Ana Sekulovska who stands behind project, CONSULATE home philosophy – by Maja Nasteska and Zorica Karanfilovska and APPETICO world of tastes – business idea by Zoran Vidanovikj – are the awarded projects, the fourth generation, part of the successful program “It can be done from Bitola too”, led by PREDA plus – the foundation that organized this DEMO DAY in the Start-up Center in Bitola.
As part of this program, just over 20 teams spent several weeks of intensive work with the help of mentors and trainers or more specifically 200 hours of mentoring, 36 hours of training, 100 hours of joint sessions and online lectures on the zoom platform that brings up to 336 hours of total mentoring and support for these start-ups.
– Although almost the entire program was online, the energy and commitment was great and despite being a period of physical distance, great closeness was born between our participants who unconditionally helped, supported and cooperated with each other throughout this period . We are proud to say that these are our new stars in the Macedonian start-up sky, said Lidija Angelkova, project coordinator.
The best 4 start-up ideas received a grant of 185,000 denars each, and the evaluation was done by a team of judges consisting of Katerina Trajkovska – Financial manager of PREDA Plus Foundation, Nikola Joshevski – General director of FC “SN Finance” and Dimche Popovski – owner of DAKA Holding.
– Any major crisis, such as this global health crisis caused by Covid-19 leading to the anticipated economic crisis, can also be a period of great opportunities. This is especially true for countries that will promptly catch up with the developed world through enhanced digitalization and even faster development of the start-up scene. And last year transferred us to the online world very strikingly. Given the quality of business ideas presented today, I am convinced that the current crisis is a huge chance for many Macedonian start-up teams. The world is yet to hear about them, said Natasha Mechkaroska Simjanoska, project coordinator of the Strengthening Social Dialogue project.
